Public Transit "Promoting Independence through Public Transit" Public transportation service began in 1997, in the rural areas of the county, serving those individuals who did not qualify for service under existing funding sources, providing them with the opportunity to travel for other purposes than to medical care. Our goals in the ongoing development of a countywide coordinated transportation system are: a. To enhance the quality of life for residents of Edgefield County by making jobs, medical services, shopping, education and recreation more accessible through the use of public transportation. b. To provide safe, efficient and economical public transportation services throughout the county. c. To maximize public input and involvement in all appropriate phases of public transportation.
